Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas charged with three misdemeanors in hit-and-run incident

New York Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas has formally been charged with three misdemeanors due to a hit-and-run incident that took place last month.

On June 15, Rosas' Chevrolet SUV crashed into a pickup truck. According to witnesses, Rosas' driving was erratic, as he was driving over double yellow lines at over 100 mph and did not stop for a red light. Rosas tried to drive away after the accident occurred but his vehicle was unable to, so he fled on foot instead.

Officers went to his home but found that he was not there. They later located him on the side of the road, where they found his bare feet were covered in blood. He was taken to Enloe Medical Center to be treated for his injuries before being taken to Butte County Jail.

Rosas has been charged with reckless driving on the highway, hit-and-run property damage, and driving while suspended/revoked for DUI of alcohol/drugs by the Buttle County district attorney's office. His next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.

This is not the first time that Rosas has faced legal trouble because of his reckless behavior behind the wheel. Court records show that in 2016, Rosas was found guilty of driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08%.

The Giants have made no public indication about how or if Rosas' latest legal troubles will affect his standing with the team. He signed a $3.3 million deal as a restricted free agent during the offseason. He made the Pro Bowl in 2018.
