Giants linked with Broncos' Jerry Jeudy after Kadarius Toney trade

The New York Giants needed help for their passing attack before they traded wide receiver Kadarius Toney to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday.

According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post (h/t Ryan Glasspiegel), the Giants acquired a compensatory third-round pick and a sixth-round pick from the Chiefs because they're contemplating making a move for Jerry Jeudy of the Denver Broncos.

Glasspiegel notes that first-year Giants head coach Brian Daboll previously worked with Jeudy when the two were with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2017. Daboll served as the program's offensive coordinator at the time.

The Broncos made Jeudy a first-round draft pick in 2020, but he hasn't yet played to the value of that selection during his NFL tenure. This season, he's recorded 24 catches for 386 yards and two touchdowns featuring for a 2-5 Broncos side expected to be sellers ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

The Broncos face the 2-5 Jacksonville Jaguars in London this Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Giants began the campaign at 6-1 despite playing without anything resembling a true No. 1 receiver up through this Sunday's matchup at the 4-3 Seattle Seahawks. Per ESPN stats, the Giants are 30th with an overall average of 160.9 passing yards per game.

Jeudy's contract is team-friendly, runs through 2023, and includes a fifth-year option for 2024. Thus, it's likely Daboll and first-year general manager Joe Schoen are interested in the 23-year-old as more than just a short-term rental.
