The New York Giants ended their playoff drought last season thanks to huge contributions from many of their homegrown players. With expectations set even higher for next season, the 2023 NFL Draft will be crucial for New York.

The Giants have already made several moves this offseason to ensure it’s one of the best NFC teams in 2023. New York made Daniel Jones one of the highest-paid NFL quarterbacks, franchise-tagged Saquon Barkley and acquired tight end, Darren Waller.

Jamison Crowder and Parris Campbell were also brought in to improve the Giants’ receiving corps. While Jones played very well last season, New York’s offense was limited by the lack of playmakers around him. Even after adding multiple pass-catchers, it appears the front office still views it as a significant need heading into the 2023 NFL Draft.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen had dinner with TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston before his pro day on Thursday.

Notably, per Raanan, New York also met with Zay Flowers and Jaxon Smith-Njigba before attending their pro days. Furthermore, wide receiver Jordan Addison said he has spoken with Giants’ officials.

Holding the 25th overall pick, it’s unlikely all of the top wide receivers on New York’s draft board are available when it is on the clock. However, at least two of Addison, Flowers and Johnston should still be available when it’s New York’s turn to pick.

If the Giants are focused on adding a vertical threat who would provide Jones with a downfield weapon, Johnston is the likely target. While he had issues with drops during his college career, his size and athleticism can help him make explosive plays in the NFL.

Flowers and Addison could both make an impact from the slow. Addison is the more polished receiver and offers crisp route-running, while Flowers is a superior athlete and provides a higher upside.
