Giants QB Daniel Jones out vs. Dolphins with neck injury; Mike Glennon to start

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge told reporters Thursday the status of starting quarterback Daniel Jones for Sunday's matchup at the Miami Dolphins could come down to a game-time decision as Jones worked to recover from the strained neck he suffered in last Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

It turns out Judge didn't need to wait until the weekend.

As ESPN's Jordan Raanan notes, Judge confirmed Friday that Jones won't play Sunday afternoon and will be replaced by backup Mike Glennon. Jake Fromm, recently signed off the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills, will be New York's QB2 in Miami.

"At this point he has not been cleared for contact, so we're going to go ahead and hold him out of this game," Judge said of Jones. "At this point, we don't feel 100% comfortable with him until the medical team clears him fully, so as of right now we will rule him out."

Judge claimed earlier this week Jones' setback wasn't considered season-ending at that time.

"We will evaluate him for the future, including as soon next week, with the doctors," Judge continued Friday. "We don't have any answers as of yet."

Glennon took the field when Jones suffered a concussion in the Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 10 and completed 16-of-25 passes for 196 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. It's unknown if Judge and company would want to get a look at Fromm later this month if Jones is sidelined beyond Sunday.
