Giants QB decision vs. Packers could cost Tyrod Taylor $1M

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor may miss out on a bonus of up to $1M this season thanks to the team's decision to continue rolling with undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito under center.

It was announced last week that the Giants would start DeVito over Taylor in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers on "Monday Night Football." The one-time Pro Bowler hasn't played since suffering a rib cage injury vs. the New York Jets in Week 8, but was designated to return from injured reserve one week ago.

Taylor revealed last week that had four broken ribs at the time of his injury and was "disappointed" that he wasn't returning to Big Blue as the starter.

Primary starter Daniel Jones is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

DeVito has started New York's last three games and helped lead them to wins in Weeks 11 and 12 before their Week 13 bye. The victories have kept the G-Men's shot at the postseason (barely) alive at 4-8, as the ESPN Football Power Index gives the team a 0.2% chance to make the field.

While filling in for Jones earlier this season, Taylor went 57-for-87 (65.5%) for 579 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in seven games (three starts), while adding 22 rushing attempts for 98 yards. DeVito has completed 66 of his 105 pass attempts for 697 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions and contributed 21 carries for 83 yards and one score.
