Giants RB Saquon Barkley still uncertain when he'll return from ACL injury
NFL training camps open up this week, but Saquon Barkley hasn't shed any extra light on when he may return to the gridiron.
The New York Giants running back spoke to the press on Monday at his youth football camp, and while he said he "feels pretty good," he couldn't offer any more details regarding his involvement in training camp or the rest of the season.
Barkley missed the majority of the 2020 season after suffering a torn right ACL in Week 2.
"I'm not trying to lead it up to it or something like that," Barkley said, insisting he isn't trying to be mysterious or elusive. "Just have to continue to listen to my body, listen to my trainers, listen to the coaches, and take it day by day."
There's no denying Barkley's continued absence is a letdown for the Giants. The 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year ran for 1,307 yards and caught 91 passes for 721 yards with 15 total touchdowns in his first professional campaign but has been hampered by injuries the last two seasons.
New York will look to offseason acquisition Devontae Booker to play a big role in Barkley's absence.
