Giants receiver listened to Patrick Peterson's podcast to prepare for playoff matchup

Giants WR Isaiah Hodgins isn't one of those athletes who doesn't read the comments on his Instagram posts, and the Giants advanced in the playoffs because of it.

Go Long's Tyler Dunne wrote a piece on New York's breakout star and included an interesting detail about how the receiver prepared for his wild-card matchup against Minnesota.

Before the playoffs started, user @seanmarzayy notified Hodgins that Vikings CB Patrick Peterson discussed Hodgins' Week 16 performance on his podcast "All Things Covered" after New York lost to Minnesota.

For over 20 minutes, Peterson explained how he knew which routes Hodgins would run and provided insight into what he saw in New York's offense.

As the rematch approached, Hodgins, angry that Peterson was discrediting his performance (89 yards, one touchdown), watched and re-watched the podcast on Youtube several times. He also passed the video along to his Giants teammates so they could make their own adjustments.

The studying paid off. Hodgins had eight receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown in his playoff debut, helping New York get its first playoff win since Super Bowl XLVI.

Since being claimed off waivers on Nov. 2, the 2020 sixth-round pick has become integral to New York's offense. In nine games with the Giants this season, Hodgins has 41 receptions for 456 yards and five touchdowns.

A trip to the NFC Championship is on the line as New York takes on Philadelphia on Saturday. Hodgins will have to find another way to beat the Eagles after center Jason Kelce's latest episode of his "New Heights" podcast didn't reveal any insider information.
