Giants rookie Jalin Hyatt talks building chemistry with Daniel Jones

The bond shared by New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt and quarterback Daniel Jones was first strengthened when Jones told the rookie to take the locker next to him. 

"I take it as just building a chemistry that we want to build for this team and [to] make plays when we get on the field," Hyatt told Jared Schwartz of the New York Post about Jones. "The first time I met him, I came up here after I got drafted, and the next day he was the first dude that came up to me, introduced himself. A good dude, a good leader. We’re lucky to have him here." 

The Giants acquired tight end Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders and signed free-agent wide receiver Parris Campbell before they spent a third-round draft pick on Hyatt. Hyatt later generated headlines and raised eyebrows with the blinding speed he displayed during training camp and the preseason, and Schwartz noted how the 21-year-old was often spotted chatting with Jones between plays during camp. 

The Giants signed Jones in March to a four-year contract, and star running back Saquon Barkley recently explained how the 26-year-old flashed more "swagger" this summer. Jones, meanwhile, has repeatedly spoken about the importance of building chemistry with new teammates ahead of Sunday's regular-season opener versus the division-rival Dallas Cowboys held at MetLife Stadium.

"We made progress last year and a lot of guys are back this year, but we also have a lot of new faces and a different group of guys, so it starts over," Jones remarked. "Our identity, what we do as a group starts over so we’ve got to go out and play well and we’re prepared to do that." 

Giants legend Tiki Barber insisted in June that Jones is "definitely" a top-10 NFL quarterback and could be "the second-best quarterback in the NFC" behind only Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Hurts. Hyatt added he believes Jones is "definitely a top-10 quarterback in this league," and the first-year pro can help turn that claim into a reality by making life easier for his QB1 beginning with the "Sunday Night Football" game against Dallas.
