Giants rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux's injury reportedly a 'tweaked hip,' expected to be ready for training camp

About two months ago, the New York Giants selected defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux with the fifth-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Oregon product was limited during organized team activities (OTAs) and mandatory minicamps due to an undisclosed injury, though, spending most of the spring in a red non-contact jersey.

Giants fans might be able to breathe a sigh of relief though, as the exact injury, and severity of it, was reported on Friday morning by Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

While with the Ducks, Thibodeaux earned back-to-back All-Pac-12 honors in his final two seasons and was a unanimous All-American in 2021. Even though an ankle injury cost him some time early in his final year, he still managed 12 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Thibodeaux is expected to start along New York's defensive line with the likes of one-time Pro Bowler Leonard Williams, new acquisition Jihad Ward and fourth-year pro Dexter Lawrence, among others.
