Giants sign veteran center Jonotthan Harrison

The New York Giants must bolster their offensive line this offseason to help protect quarterback Daniel Jones and provide rushing lanes for returning running back Saquon Barkley.

Big Blue officially took a small step toward achieving that goal on Wednesday.

The Giants confirmed the signing of veteran center Jonotthan Harrison. Harrison, 29, spent the 2020 season on the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills but most recently made 10 starts and appeared in all 16 games while with the New York Jets in 2019.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 300-pounds, Harrison has, per Pro-Football-Reference, appeared in 84 NFL games and tallied 42 career starts since entering the league as an undrafted rookie out of the University of Florida signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2014.

Back on Jan. 31, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the Giants were signing Harrison to a one-year deal worth $2 million, decent money for somebody who didn't log an official stat the previous season.

Weeks ago, Darryl Slater of NJ.com suggested the Giants could move starting center Nick Gates to guard. Per Slater, Pro Football Focus ranked Gates 26th among players at the position for the 2020 campaign.
