Former Steelers defensive lineman Chris Wormley has his first tryout in what could be his post-Steelers career, as he was hosted by the New York Giants on Monday, according to Dan Duggan of the Athletic.

It is the first workout he has had since he suffered a torn ACL. Wormley had successful surgery to repair a torn ACL, he announced on Instagram shortly after the injury.

Wormley was injured against the Baltimore Ravens and went down with a non-contact knee injury. The injury ended Wormley’s season and cost him most of the offseason as well. On Instagram, Wormley expressed his gratitude for the support he received after the injury.

“Life is still good,” Wormley wrote. “My wife and daughter are the greatest support system. Surgery was a success. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. It truly means the world to me!”

Following the surgery, Wormley was expected to miss somewhere between six to nine months with the injury. Wormley was in the last year of his two-year contract with the Steelers, meaning that he also hit free agency with the injury looming over his head. Pittsburgh could look to bring him back due to familiarity given the circumstances, but with the injury, it is taking some time for Wormley to sign somewhere with severe injury looming over him. Since then, the Steelers have added a number of other defensive linemen.

Prior to the injury, Chris Wormley racked up 29 tackles, a forced fumble, and 0.5 sacks on the season as a rotational player along the Steelers’ defensive line. When the injury happened, Pittsburgh signed Jonathan Marshall to the 53-man roster to try and fill some snaps that Wormley left behind. Since then, they have added Keeanu Benton, Breiden Fehoko, and Armon Watts to the unit to bolster a competition along the defensive line.
