Giants WR Kadarius Toney feels 'pretty good' about role

Following last Thursday's 30-29 loss to the Washington Football Team, New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney made an Instagram post suggesting he was frustrated with his role. However, that's not the case, at least according to the rookie receiver.

During a Thursday press conference, Toney opened by saying the post was about an unspecified "personal matter," according to Pro Football Talk. He added that he feels "pretty good" about his role in the offense despite playing just 24 offensive snaps in two weeks.

When asked if he'd like to be on the field more often, Toney said he's just thinking about doing his job and focusing on doing what he can to increase his role in the offense.

"Yeah, a play would be pretty good," Toney said. "As far as me taking that [as] the first thing on my mind as soon as I wake up, not really. I wake up every day, come in, do my job, do what I can every day to increase my role, increase my ability every day. I don't really need justification from everybody about what I'm doing because I understand what's going on."

Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garret said Toney "will be a piece of what we're doing" against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend, per Pro Football Talk. However, it remains to be seen if he'll play a more significant role with New York already struggling to an 0-2 record.

The Giants selected Toney 20th overall in the 2021 draft and he missed a lot of time during training camp after testing positive for COVID-19 and dealing with a hamstring injury. So, it's no surprise he hasn't been used more often.
