The Green Bay Packers surprised a lot of people during the 2023 NFL season. After a rocky start to the Jordan Love era, the team picked things up in the second half of the season, sneaking into the playoffs as the last Wild Card team.

They certainly made the most of their opportunity, going on the road and becoming the first No. 7 seed to advance to the Divisional Round. They blew out the Dallas Cowboys during Super Wild Card Weekend, which has a lot of people excited about what is to come in Green Bay.

Love really showed some moxie during the season as his supporting cast was not as strong as many thought it would be. Injuries kept the Packers from having their projected lineup during training camp on the field much in the regular season.

One of the positions that was hit hardest during the season was the offensive line. What was expected to be a strength for the team had its struggles as injuries hit this unit hard. Starting left tackle David Bakhtiari played in Week 1 and was unable to get back on the field after because of his chronic knee injury.

Rasheed Walker played well in Bakhtiari’s place, as the Packers do a good job of developing offensive line talent. This is a group that could move into the upper echelon of the league if they can stay healthy given the versatility and talent the group possesses.

One of those talented players is Zach Tom, who could be in store for a change in 2024. Tom has experience playing across the offensive line and spent 1,064 of his 1,068 snaps at right tackle in 2023. Alas, it sounds as if Green Bay could kick Tom inside, where his upside is believed to be higher.

If the Packers believe that Tom’s upside as a center is that great, he could move there as soon as this offseason. Josh Myers’ hold on the starting job was tenuous at times during the 2023 season; if Green Bay has an alternative option at right tackle that allows them to move Tom to center, they could jump at the opportunity.

It will be something to keep an eye on during the 2024 NFL Draft. The offensive line is in need of some help after starting guard Jon Runyan Jr. departed in free agency, signing a deal with the New York Giants. It could be an area they look to shore up early on as there aren’t many glaring holes on their roster entering the draft.
