The Green Bay Packers bolstered the depth at running back on Tuesday, signing free agent James Robinson to the roster, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Robinson, who led the Jacksonville Jaguars’ rushing attack in 2021, will provide the Packers some additional support after six weeks of the regular season.

Earlier this year, the former Jet signed with the New York Giants for $1.1 million amid Saquon Barkley’s holdout. The team opted to waive him before the start of the regular season slate, however.

James Robinson started the 2022 season with the Jaguars, playing seven games, before getting traded to the New York Jets. He signed a two-year deal for $4 million with the New England Patriots when the free agency window opened in March, but they released him in June.

An undrafted free agent out of Illinois State, Robinson has 514 career carries so far in the NFL. He’s racked up 2,262 yards with 18 touchdowns over three seasons. His career average yards per carry is 4.4 yards.

Packers release RB Patrick Taylor

The Green Bay Packers released running back Patrick Taylor last week. Taylor had been with the team since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

He spent his entire rookie season between Green Bay’s practice squad, reserve/non-football injury, and active/non-football injury list until seeing his first regular-season action in 2021. Taylor appeared in nine games for the Packers in 2021, recording 89 yards on 23 carries and scoring his first career touchdown against the Detroit Lions in Week 18.

In his career, Taylor has rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown on 42 carries along with six receptions for 43 yards, also contributing on special teams with two tackles.

The former Memphis standout was active with running backs AJ Dillon and Emanuel Wilson for the Packers’ game against the Raiders.
