The Green Bay Packers are preparing for the 2020 NFL season, and it will prove to be very different for fans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In a letter sent to season-ticket holders on Friday, the Packers admitted to fans that the experience at Lambeau Field will change dramatically this season.

While every NFL team remains hopeful that fans will be allowed to attend games this season, the reality is quickly settling in across the league. Amid the worsening COVID-19 pandemic, including a significant spike in Wisconsin’s cases, the Green Bay Packers hinted at changes looming this season.

Even if fans are allowed to attend games at Lambeau Field this fall, attendance will be reduced significantly. The team is creating new policies to follow social distancing guidelines and to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance.

Fans might need to sign a liability waiver before they enter the stadium and every person attending a game will be required to wear a face covering.

Lambeau Field boasts a seating capacity of nearly 82,000 and is crowded for every game with football fans excited to watch the Packers inside of one of the NFL’s most iconic stadiums. Unfortunately, the environment just won’t be the same this year.

The best-case scenario for the Packers is limited attendance this season, which could reduce the capacity dramatically. However, it seems increasingly likely that the team might take the field this season without any fans in the seats.
