Hall of Fame sportswriter goes on Chip Kelly rant

After a disappointing 20-19 loss Sunday at home against the Miami Dolphins, Eagles fans have to be wondering why their team just can't quite put it together.

Philadelphia sports broadcaster and Pro Football Hall of Fame sportswriter Ray Didinger lays the blame for the Eagles' inconsistency squarely on the shoulders of head coach Chip Kelly.

"Chip's talking about we ran 88 plays, like that's a big accomplishment," Didinger said in reaction to Kelly's comments about the Eagles' loss. "You ran 88 plays, and you scored 19 stinking points against the Miami Dolphins. I don't care how many damn plays you ran. Don't tell me how many because I don't care. At the end of the game, the scoreboard tells me it wasn’t enough."

Didinger then went on to criticize the team as a whole.

"This division is so awful, you could win this division blindfolded. And yet, these guys are in the process of giving it away," Didinger added. "They just don't know how to win.

The Eagles are currently 4-5 and sit in third place in the NFC East, however, they are just a game one game back from the division-leading Giants.

Still, losses like this won't do Kelly and the Eagles any favors in regard to quelling the rumors of a potential return to the college ranks for the former Oregon Ducks coach. That's particularly true when a Hall of Famer is growing weary of the coach.
