Will Levis made a lot of people forget his odd food habits off the field with his play for the Tennessee Titans this season. However, with his rookie season complete, he and Hellman’s are back to remind everyone about his connection to mayonnaise.
Levis and Hellman’s shared a video on Instagram to recognize him after his first season as a pro. The clip included an artist sculpting a bust of Levis’ face completely out of mayo. It’s truly a sight to behold and as best as you could imagine that could be done with the condiment.
“We couldn’t be prouder of our favorite, mayo-loving quarterback @will_levis for all he’s accomplished this season,” wrote Hellman’s on Instagram. “Behold, our tasty tribute!”
Levis was the No. 33 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after a collegiate career at Penn State and Kentucky. During his time in Lexington is when his personality and strange food customs, such as eating a whole banana and putting mayonnaise in his coffee, became common knowledge.
Still, in his first season in the NFL, many didn’t remember some of those facts considering what he was doing on the field. After a 2-4 start to the year, Levis took over for Ryan Tannehill as the starting quarterback in Music City following the bye week
Levis would then lead the Titans over the next eight games of the season. In those appearances, he went 149-255 (58.4%) overall for just over 1,800 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions. Most of that came in a hype-filled debut against Atlanta. In a 28-23 win over the Falcons, he went 19-29 (65.5%) for 238 yards and four passing scores.
Levis continued to show flashes mixed in with some lows over the rest of his games. That included his efforts in a stunning comeback victory at Miami on Monday Night Football. His rookie year came to an early end, though, as injuries caught up with him. Those led him to miss essentially all of the final three games.
Levis, who is a lifetime signee with Hellman’s, is making more of a name for himself beyond mayonnaise. With that said, this is about as unique of a tribute as any athlete has or will ever receive after a successful season.
Mike Vrabel interviews with L.A. Chargers on Thursday
Fresh off of his six-year tenure as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, Mike Vrabel is getting a shot at taking over another NFL franchise.
The Los Angeles Chargers reportedly interviewed Vrabel for the open head coaching job on Thursday according to Tom Pelissero.
The Titans fired Vrabel after leading the team to a 6-11 record this past season. Tennessee went 7-10 in 2022. In six seasons, he tallied an overall record of 54-45 with three postseason appearances.
Tennessee went 9-7 in each of his first two seasons, reaching the AFC Championship Game in 2019. In 2020, the Titans went 11-5 before losing in the first round of the playoffs. In 2021, a season where Vrabel was named the NFL’s Coach of the Year, Tennessee entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the AFC after winning 12 regular season games before falling at home to the Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs.
The Los Angeles Chargers moved on from Brandon Staley before the end of this past season.
