NFL free agency is a tough business. The Houston Texans learned that once again on Friday morning. An impactful defender chose to move on from Houston.

The Texans attempted to bring back veteran DL Teair Tart, but he chose to head to the Miami Dolphins

Tart played for both the Texans and Tennessee Titans in 2023. He totaled eight tackles for loss in eleven games between the two teams.

Houston already signed Denico Autry from the Titans during free agency, though. He will play off the edge and inside most likely. Folorunso Fatukasi was another FA addition on the IDL for them, but he plays a different role than Autry.

It will be intriguing to see if they add another body in free agency, considering Tart received interest from them.

They clearly still want to improve on the inside of their defensive line, but they could look at the 2024 NFL Draft to do that. Only time will tell.

The Texans also brought in vets Tim Settle and Mario Edwards Jr. to compete for reps on their DL. No matter what - it seems like they have a plan at the position. Tart heads to the AFC East.
