The Houston Texans are about to be very busy when the legal tampering period opens on Monday for free agency. Well, they have already been pretty busy, as they have resigned several players so far. Earlier this week, they re-signed Dalton Schultz. On Saturday, they resigned Eric Murray, Desmond King, and Kris Boyd.

Now, they have to prepare their money for the free agents who weren't on their team last season. This free agency class is huge and has a ton of talent in areas that the Texans could use. However, they have to do it the right way.

There are still other players from last season's team who want to come back. One of those is linebacker Denzel Perryman, who recently revealed he would come back in a heartbeat.

"I love the season we just had. We went pretty far - further than a lot of people expected. As far as my process in free agency, I'm just working out, being patient, letting things handle themselves, and controlling what I can control," Perryman told NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2.

Wilson then asked Perryman if the Texans want him back, how would that go.

"I'll be there. I'll be there," Perryman continued. "DeMeco [Ryans] was fun to play for. He's a player's coach. He played the game, so he understands it... I love him."

As of right now, the Texans only have three linebackers total on the roster. Two of them play as weakside linebackers, Christian Harris and Jake Hansen. The other is a second-string linebacker from 2023, Henry To'oTo'o. So, they could use another linebacker or two, especially one who is starter material. They have Blake Cashman, Denzel Perryman, and Neville Hewitt entering free agency.

The Texans and Patrick Queen have mutual interests, and I'm sure they will pursue or talk to others. However, if they didn't land a deal with any of the big names at the position, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring Perryman back, given that he knows the defense.

Yes, he struggled in coverage last season and missed some games due to suspension. However, he is a very capable linebacker and would be that veteran presence in a very young room. The Texans need that. It's easily something to ponder.
