The Houston Texans made quick progress in the 2023 NFL season. Rookie QB C.J. Stroud and rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans led the Texans to an AFC South division title. Now, it appears the Texans are strengthening their defense to try and take a step further next season. Find out what Houston did below.

Houston Texans Add Mario Edwards Jr.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Houston Texans are going to sign DL Mario Edwards Jr. Rapoport states that this is expected to be a one-year deal. Edwards Jr. comes from the Seattle Seahawks.

Last year, he had 21 combined tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. Now, he looks to improve upon these numbers in his 10th season in the NFL.

Past Experience

This is far from the first time Edwards Jr. will have a new home. This will be his seventh different NFL team in 10 years. Before the Seahawks, Edwards Jr. spent a year with the division rival Tennessee Titans. His career numbers include 114 games, four forced fumbles, 21.5 sacks, and 156 combined tackles. Let’s see what 2024 brings for the Houston Texans here.
