The Houston Texans are already ahead of their free agency schedule, as they have made a few signings before free agency has even started.

The Texans are going to have their hands full this offseason. With a ton of cap space, a rookie quarterback contract, and a promising future, this free agency period has to be good, and luckily, the Texans are getting started a bit early.

According to Aaron Wilson , an NFL insider who covers the Texans, the Texans have made two key signings recently. They signed defensive back Eric Murray to a one-year deal and special teams standout Kris Boyd to a one-year deal as well.

Murray has been with the team since 2020 and has played in 53 games. Boyd played two games with the team last season, and the Texans saw enough in him as a special teams player that they wanted him to return.

The Texans had a disciplined special teams unit, and a large part of that was due to those two players, who both spent significant time on special teams.

The Texans are trying to bring back the guys who helped make their team what it was last season—the guys who not many think about but were vital key players. They have done that so far before the free agency period even starts.
