Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson or Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith: Who has fared better this season? Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

How do Geno Smith and Russell Wilson compare this season?

Once the Seattle Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, opting instead to go with backup Geno Smith as the starter in 2022, it quickly became apparent that the two would be compared every step of the way.

Nearly nine months removed from the Wilson trade, how does he stack up against Smith?

In his first season in Denver, Wilson has struggled to find the rhythm and poise he displayed in nine Pro Bowl seasons with Seattle. Through seven starts, Wilson has thrown only three more touchdown passes than interceptions while posting the worst completion percentage of his career (58.8).

Also, the Seahawks have gone 3-4 under Wilson while averaging just 16 points per game.

Meanwhile, Smith has led the Seahawks to six wins in nine starts, just two victories shy of his career high (8) for a season, which he reached during his rookie campaign with the New York Jets in 2013.

Smith has already surpassed his single-season best in touchdown passes with 15 and boasts a career-high 73.1 completion percentage.

There may be plenty of football left to play this season, but so far, Smith has fared much better in Seattle than Wilson has in Denver. Considering the steep price the Broncos paid for Wilson, the Seahawks have to be thrilled with their choice at quarterback.
