How does Josh Allen's interception stretch compare to streaks by NFL greats?

In each of the past three games, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen threw two interceptions. It's not an unprecedented stretch for Allen, who threw seven interceptions over a four-game stretch last season. But the timing of this season's streak is surprising given his hot start to 2022.

It's not unusual for star QBs to go through such stretches. Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes threw for a career-high 13 interceptions last season. Over his career, Allen has 17 two-plus interception games. Mahomes has eight.

During the Rams' Super Bowl-winning 2021 season, Matthew Stafford went through a series of tremendous highs and lows. During the first two rounds of the playoffs, he threw four TD passes and no interceptions. Stafford also had a stretch of five consecutive regular-season games where he threw two or more interceptions that continued into the 2022 season.

Even all-timers had high-turnover games. Peyton Manning had 69 multi-interception games in his career. Dan Marino had 65 and Drew Brees had 64 of these games during their careers. Brett Favre, the NFL's all-time interception leader (336), owns an NFL-record of 94 two or more interception games during his storied career. In 1998, Favre also had a stretch of five straight games with two or more interceptions.

Favre is another example of a rare physical talent whose good often outweighed the bad. Favre's lows could kill any season, as he did with two interceptions in the Vikings-Saints NFC Championship Game in 2010. But he also won three straight MVPs from 1995-97 and made the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

On the "All Things Covered" podcast earlier this week, Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson talked about his Week 10 interception of Allen. Peterson said Buffalo's route concepts were predictable and that he believed Allen would give them a chance to pick one off.

Turnovers are still bad and one the top predictors of game's outcome. But with some great quarterbacks, you'll take a little bad with a lot of good.
