First round NFL Draft pick Anthony Richardson has broken the seal. The Indianapolis Colts rookie ran for the first of what he hopes are going to be many more touchdowns to follow against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Seen as a dual threat quarterback, Anthony Richardson is going to have the ability to score both on the ground and through the air. He proved that at Florida, where he had 17 passing touchdowns and nine rushing touchdowns last season.

For Richardson, this was an incredible moment that he’ll always remember. At home in Lucas Oil Stadium for the moment, the Indianapolis faithful made sure to let him know how much they appreciate the new face of the franchise.

Doug Pederson on the challenges of preparing for Anthony Richardson

Ahead of their Week 1 meeting, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson shared how difficult it is to prepare for Anthony Richardson. This is, in part, because there’s no NFL film on him, but also because of his skill-set.

“I mean, it’s tough. You think of him, you think of Cam Newton — these are big, physical, strong quarterbacks that can also throw the football. And they’re athletic. It is a challenge. So each quarterback who can — when you watch the tape, he can break arm tackles. And then he can run for 15, 20, 30, 40 yards and beat you with his legs. So, we’ve got to stay disciplined, obviously, defensively. We’ve got to be a good tackle football team against guys like this,” Pederson said.

“You definitely go back and watch [college tape], just to see who he is and how [Richardson] operates,” Pederson added. “And then you go back and watch his preseason tape. And then you go back and watch some of the Philly stuff — what they did with Jalen [Hurts]. Maybe you even go back and watch a little bit of Daniel Jones a little bit because some of their coaches have worked with him. And just see how these different QB runs can affect the game.”
