Indy GM Chris Ballard: Carson Wentz has had 'a pretty seamless transition' joining Colts

After Philip Rivers' retirement earlier this year, the Colts were in need of a new starting quarterback. The team managed to land Carson Wentz in a trade with the Eagles, and according to Indianapolis GM Chris Ballard, the quarterback has had "a pretty seamless transition" joining the Colts so far.

"When it came to Carson, it was a little like Philip (Rivers) last year. Frank and Nick Sirianni had a really good relationship with Philip. He knew the offense, and it was almost a seamless transition when we brought him in," Ballard said on the Colin Cowherd Podcast. "I almost see the same thing with Carson here over the first month and a half where it's a pretty seamless transition for Carson just because of his relationship with Frank, who also happens to be the play-caller."

Ballard is referring to the relationship between Wentz and Colts head coach Frank Reich, who was Philadelphia's offensive coordinator when Wentz was drafted by the team in 2016. Under Reich's play-calling, Wentz had his best season as a pro in 2017, leading the Eagles to an 11-5 record while throwing 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.

Last season, Wentz had his worst season, resulting in him getting benched for rookie Jalen Hurts. But now he has a chance to get his career back on track.
