Infant son of Browns WR Ryan Switzer undergoes surgery in Boston

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Ryan Switzer tweeted on Monday that Christian, his nine-month-old infant son, is undergoing surgery following weeks of health scares and multiple severe bleeding episodes. The Associated Press (h/t ESPN) noted the procedure is taking place in Boston:

Switzer, who spent the 2020 season on Cleveland's practice squad, first announced on March 6 that Christian "woke up in his own blood" and tested positive for COVID-19. The 26-year-old has since routinely shared updates on his son's condition via Twitter, and the AP added that the Switzer family first consulted doctors in Pittsburgh and later transported Christian to a hospital in North Carolina and then to Boston Children's Hospital last week.

Switzer was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he also spent two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He didn't play during the 2020 campaign.
