Insider: Cowboys visting with another potential first-round WR

Even though the Brandin Cooks trade spiced up the Dallas WR room, it still wants to add more flavor.

Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys are making a top-30 visit with Boston College's Zay Flowers, a potential first-round pick.

It's the second time Dallas has reportedly shown an interest in a WR who could be a first-rounder. The Cowboys were recently looking into TCU's Quentin Johnston, via The Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins.

It is a surprise to see them looking into WRs early in the draft, but Cooks missed three games with a calf injury last season. Likewise, Michael Gallup, recovering from an ACL tear last season, struggled, recording a career-low in receiving yards (424 in 14 games).

Therefore, adding more depth is key, which Flowers can provide. ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. ranked him as his No.1 WR prospect.

"Flowers, who had 200 catches and 31 TDs in his college career, is one of my favorite prospects in this class," Kiper Jr. wrote. "He forced 25 missed tackles last season, the third most in the country for a WR."

Flowers also tied for fifth in receiving TDs (12 in 12 games) and had 78 receptions for 1,077 yards. Boston College rotated two QBs last season. Each completed less than 60 percent of their passes, making Flowers' productive season more impressive.

The main concern about the Boston College WR is his size (5-foot-9 and 182 pounds). However, Pro Bowl WR Tyreek Hill (5-foot-10 and 191 pounds) has proven smaller WRs can thrive, possibly minimizing concerns about Flowers.

WR isn't a pressing need for the Cowboys, yet it wouldn't be a surprise to see them use their first-round pick (No. 26 overall) on Flowers because he's a solid value.
