While there is a semi-narrative that a trade of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets is basically a done deal, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports that a framework for the long-talked-of trade has yet to be decided upon. Both teams, he relays, are waiting for word on the signal-caller's future plans before they work together to make it happen -- should he desire to play for the Jets.

In the meantime, New York has been working to clear out space under the cap, both through outright cuts and contract restructurings. Rodgers carries a cap hit of over $31M.

Rich Cimini, a New York Jets insider, has predicted that should a trade go through, it might cost the Jets their 43rd (second round) and 74th picks (third round) in April's draft, as well as a conditional 2024 second-round pick. Crucially, Cimini does not believe the Jets will dangle the 13th overall selection in this year's draft for Rodgers.

Whether the Packers consider that first-round pick a must-have is not yet known, nor is it known whether Cimini's framework is what the Packers have in mind. Ultimately, the game is in Rodgers' court first, as it tends to be.
