Insider reveals Bengals' offensive plans without QB Joe Burrow

The outlook on the Bengals season certainly took a hit after they announced QB Joe Burrow is out for the remainder of the season with a wrist injury that requires surgery. One NFL insider doesn't think the offense will look a whole lot different.

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, head coach Zac Taylor and his staff aren't expected to make any changes when it comes to the offensive game plan.

"The Cincinnati coaching staff believes [Jake] Browning, who has been with the team since 2021, can operate all facets of the offense and that it won't have to alter its game planning or play calling with Browning in the game," Graziano wrote.

It may come as a surprise to some as Browning had attempted just one pass in his NFL career prior to his relief appearance in Week 11. But Browning's performance against the Ravens was encouraging as he completed 8-of-14 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Some may believe that the loss of Burrow could make the offense painful to watch, which could turn out to be true. The team still has one of the most talented groups of offensive weapons in the league.

Things won't be easy for Browning and the Bengals as all seven of their remaining games are against opponents who have a .500 record or better right now. But Cincinnati isn't officially ruled out yet.

Next up are the Steelers (6-4), who will prove to be a difficult out even with several problems of their own.

It hasn't been a picture-perfect path to the NFL for the former undrafted rookie in 2019, but he is certainly ready for the challenge.

"I've had to earn everything," Browning told reporters. "I've had to battle, and here I am, so let's go."
