Insider reveals if Cardinals plan to trade QB Kyler Murray before deadline

With the trade deadline looming on Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals have reportedly revealed if they're placing quarterback Kyler Murray on the trade block.

Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, some teams are interested in Murray, who suffered an ACL tear in 2022. Yet Arizona is not shopping him, and he's expected to make his first start over the next few weeks.

Although the Cardinals won't trade him before the deadline, some still speculate they will move on from the former No. 1 overall pick.

"The outside speculation — the word I get when talking to agents and executives from other teams — is that the Cardinals likely will move on after this season," wrote ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano. "Again, that's speculation. But there are common-sense reasons to speculate that way."

Murray is 0-1 in the playoffs and seemingly regressed in 2022. In 11 games, the two-time Pro Bowler posted career lows in passing TDs (14) and yards per attempt (6.1).

Tankathon projects the Cardinals will have the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and select Southern California QB Caleb Williams. Several scouts view the 2022 Heisman winner as a generational talent.

"He's a special player, and whoever gets him will have a franchise-altering type of talent," an NFC scout told ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid.

Murray's trade market diminished since he hasn't played this season. The Cardinals might showcase the 26-year-old toward the end of the season to increase his value and attempt to acquire more picks before the draft in April.
