The Indianapolis Colts are in desperate need of some weapons in the aerial attack, and if they don’t shore up their receiving corps, quarterback Anthony Richardson could be in for a trying 2024 campaign.

If it wasn’t already enough that the Colts are going to have to try and re-sign wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., they also need to add some pieces around him.

Outside of Pittman, Josh Downs is really the only other truly reliable receiver Indianapolis had in 2023. Alec Pierce actually took a bit of a step back, and the Colts’ tight ends were mostly a disaster.

Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department stressed the importance Indianapolis retaining Pittman, which looks like a shoo-in given Indy’s massive cap room. But B/R also mentions that the Colts need to add a big-play threat like Josh Reynolds.

Reynolds spent this past season with the Detroit Lions, catching 40 passes for 608 yards and five touchdowns. At 6-foot-3 with decent athleticism, Reynolds may be the perfect complement to Pittman and Downs in Indianapolis’ passing game.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M, was originally selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Reynolds spent the first four years of his career with the Rams, with his best season coming in 2020 when he hauled in 52 receptions for 618 yards and a couple of scores.

He then joined the Tennessee Titans, where he spent half a season in 2021 before being waived. He went on to sign with the Lions, where he enjoyed some solid success.

Reynolds is certainly not a No. 1 guy, but if the Colts are able to keep Pittman and sign Reynolds, they would suddenly have a deep group of wide outs at Richardson’s disposal.
