Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Is a Justin Fields trade to the Steelers gaining legs?

While quarterbacks throughout the NFL continue to change zip codes, the wait for Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears continues. However, the end might soon be in sight.

Following the Pittsburgh Steelers trade of Kenny Pickett on Friday, some, including Josh Carney of USA Today, believe that the move could open up a spot for Fields.

Initially, the Steelers were among a handful of teams rumored to be interested in Fields, but those whispers quickly quieted after Pittsburgh signed Russell Wilson.

The addition of Wilson reportedly triggered Pickett's desire to start fresh elsewhere. Now, with only one quarterback on the roster, the Steelers have a need at the position again, which unsurprisingly has jump-started talk of adding Fields.

Carney isn't alone in believing Fields could be on his way to Pittsburgh. Former QB Robert Griffin III sounded off on social media about the topic, arguing that the Steelers were the former Ohio State signal-caller's best fit.

If not the Steelers, then who? Barring a move to the Steel City, no jobs will be left for Fields at this rate.

Pickett was just the latest quarterback to find himself on the move this offseason. So far, 15 quarterbacks have changed teams, while Baker Mayfield re-upped with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Another crop of rookie signal-callers will fill a handful of spots in April.

Recently, without tipping his hand, general manager Ryan Poles said he wanted to "do right" by Fields. Unless the Bears plan to keep him around as the starter and pass on a QB again with the No. 1 overall pick, they're seemingly doing the former first-round pick a serious disservice.
