Is Packers QB Aaron Rodgers suffering from 'COVID toe' condition?

Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn't yet directly divulged the nature of the injury to his pinkie toe that he suffered at some point between testing positive for COVID-19 as an unvaccinated player before a game at the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 7, which he missed, and his return to action versus the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 14.

As both Andrew Beaton of The Wall Street Journal and Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio noted, Rodgers said during Tuesday's appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he was dealing with what's known as "COVID toe." Neither Florio nor JR Radcliffe of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel took the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player seriously, but some think he could be telling the truth.

Rodgers remarked after Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings the toe problem is "very, very painful," but he added Tuesday it "must be some sort of bone issue" that, theoretically, would not be related to any "COVID toe" condition.

Either way, the 37-year-old told McAfee he has "a toe injury that’s not going away" and that he will be "dealing with it at least the next few weeks." The Packers are on their bye following this Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, so Rodgers will have extra time to rest and recuperate before he faces the defense of the Chicago Bears on Dec. 12.
