Is 'The Eras Curse' impacting betting odds for Chiefs-Jets 'SNF' game?

Take it from someone who is a fan of both NFL football and pop music and doesn't need a copy of "Football for Swifties" tucked into her purse: It's only a matter of time before "The Eras Curse" is connected to betting odds for NFL games.

There is a very intense crossover between football and frenzy now that the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift dating rumors have reached a level of truth, and if there is one thing diehard sports fans and Swifties have in common, it's being very superstitious. NBA fans can already attest to this since some very interesting connections were made last spring between where Swift's Eras Tour stopped and those cities' basketball teams exiting the playoffs

Now, with the NFL season underway and the Kelce-Swift union dominating headlines, the spotlight shines on the Kansas City Chiefs' upcoming opponents and whether those teams are going to fall prey to "The Eras Curse."

Enter, the New York Jets. Fourth in the AFC East after a 1-2 start and hosting the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in Week 4. Swift's tour, for the record, stopped at MetLife Stadium back in May.

The rumor mill is already impacting how many people are betting on this game. But is this playspace witchcraft the reason the Jets are 10-point underdogs at DraftKings ahead of SNF Week 4?

As much as fans on both sides of the aisle like to believe in their jinxes, there is clearly no "Eras Curse" impacting the betting odds for this week's Chiefs-Jets showdown.

Those odds are very much a result of how both teams have played to start the season.

Patrick Mahomes has completed 74 passes for 803 yards and seven TDs through the first three weeks of the season. Isiah Pacheco recorded 15 carries for 62 yards and one TD last week against the Chicago Bears, which isn't too shabby for a guy dealing with a hamstring injury.

That's more than can be said about the Jets offense, which has had to rely on Zach Wilson under center after Aaron Rodgers' season ended four plays into Week 1. YB has already discussed Rodgers' impact on New York's value at sportsbooks, and that has surely had a much bigger impact on oddsmakers than any pop-infused curse.

Kansas City has also won three of the last four head-to-head matchups with the Jets and two of those wins were by more than 20 points, which also suggests that the Chiefs could cover the 10-point spread in Week 4.

But have no fear, conspiracy lovers! This won't be the last time there will be rumors that an NFL stadium is jinxed just because "Champagne Problems" was performed there. Just wait until December when the playoff picture is forming — that's when the superstitions will really come into play. 'Tis the damn season, as Swift would say.
