On Friday morning, the Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to an extension with a key linebacker. The Jaguars had a few defenders they needed to make deals with this offseason.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have another linebacker to extend

Star pass rusher and linebacker Josh Allen’s contract has been the subject of much of the focus on the Jaguars defense this offseason. The team applied the franchise tag to Allen after a monster 2023 season when he recorded 17.5 sacks. They have not agreed to a long-term yet.

Foye Oluokon earned an extension

The Jaguars reached a deal to keep one of Allen’s better helpers on the defense for years to come. According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Jaguars are signing linebacker Foye Oluokun to a three-year extension.

The extension is a four-year deal with a max value of up to $48 million. $22.5 million of his contract is guaranteed at signing.

Oluokon just tackles

The Atlanta Falcons’ 2018 sixth-round pick has been a force on the Jaguars defense. He led the NFL in tackles for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Oluokon recorded 173 total tackles and 2.5 sacks in the 2023 season. He has 819 tackles in his six-year NFL career.

According to Pro Football Focus, Oluokon earned a 75.2 grade for his overall play last season, the highest grade of his overall career. He was the 18th-highest graded linebacker of any linebacker who played in 50 percent of their defense’s snaps.
