Jaguars DE Josh Allen to miss 'some time' with knee injury

Things continue to go from bad to worse for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-3 on Sunday and suffered its ninth consecutive defeat in the process. The Jaguars may have also lost defensive end Josh Allen for at least three games, if not for the remainder of the year.

Per Michael DiRocco of ESPN, Jacksonville coach Doug Marrone told reporters on Monday that Allen could go on injured reserve due to the knee injury he suffered on Sunday afternoon.

"It's not any ligament damage, but it's still enough to be out for some time," Marrone explained. "That's about all I'll give out. I might give you more later when I get more specific [details]."

The seventh-overall pick from the 2019 NFL Draft previously missed two games earlier this season because of a different knee issue. Allen leads the 1-9 Jaguars with 2.5 sacks and 11 QB hits.

A rule for the season held amid the coronavirus pandemic mandates that any player on IR must miss a minimum of three games. If Allen lands on the list, he'll be sidelined for next Sunday's home contest versus the Cleveland Browns, a game at the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 6, and a showdown with the Tennessee Titans on Dec. 13.

He could be cleared to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 20. At that point, however, Jacksonville could elect to shut the 23-year-old down until next summer.
