The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Henry Mondeaux to their practice squad in advance of the game between the teams at Acrisure Stadium in Week 8.

Mondeaux, 28, was last with the Steelers during training camp last summer. One of the final cuts in August 2022, he caught on with the New York Giants, where he was added to the practice squad. He was elevated from the practice squad for three games before being added to the roster on Nov. 14.

He ended up playing four games for the Giants last season, recording 16 tackles and one for a loss. Mondeaux signed with Jacksonville in March, but was placed on the injured reserve list on Aug. 14 and released on Aug. 22. Now healthy, the Jaguars re-signed him and cut Ross Blacklock.

Before he was released in 2022, Mondeaux had been with the Steelers since 2019 and was a solid contributor for two seasons. After spending all of 2019 on the practice squad, he played in 11 games in 2020 and 15 games in 2021 while making two starts.

Over two seasons of action, he had 21 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, two sacks, four quarterback hits and a fumble recovery. Slightly undersized for the Steelers defensive line at 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, Mondeaux made use of his speed instead and played a good amount of special teams snaps compared to most defensive linemen.

The Jaguars could be looking to pick Mondeaux’s brain in advance of their Week 8 game in Pittsburgh, or they could just be trying to get another look at a player they liked in the offseason before his injury.
