Jaguars, QB C.J. Beathard agree to two-year, $5 million deal

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have just signed Trevor Lawrence's backup.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars and C.J. Beathard agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with incentives on Wednesday. He adds that the signing increases the possibility that the franchise trades Gardner Minshew.

The San Francisco 49ers selected Beathard in the third round of the 2017 draft. He has spent the last four seasons in San Francisco and has started 12 games with the franchise, completing 58.6% of his passes for 3,469 yards and 18 touchdowns against 13 interceptions in 19 games total.

He appeared in six games last season, completing 63.5% of his passes for 787 yards and six touchdowns against no picks.

The Jaguars are widely expected to select Lawrence with the first overall pick in next month's draft.
