Jacksonville Jaguars backup quarterback C.J. Beathard signed a contract extension on Friday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Jaguars, however NFL Network reported the contract was for two years. He was scheduled to be a free agent prior to signing the extension.

Beathard, 29, has been the No. 2 quarterback in Jacksonville since Trevor Lawrence was chosen as the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Beathard completed 7 of 11 passes for 35 yards with one interception in four games last season.

He has thrown for 3,537 yards with 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 25 career games (12 starts) with the San Francisco 49ers and Jaguars. He was selected by the 49ers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Iowa.
