Jaguars re-sign OL Tyler Shatley on two-year deal

Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence received some good news on the final day of February.

Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero , the Jaguars re-signed veteran offensive lineman Tyler Shatley on a two-year contract worth up to $6.8 million with $2.35 million guaranteed. The Jaguars later confirmed the news about the extension but did not offer specifics on the deal.

Shatley, 30, first joined the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie in 2014 and has spent his entire NFL career with the organization. As Bryan DeArdo noted for CBS Sports, the Jaguars are currently on track to lose linemen Cam Robinson, Andrew Norwell and A.J. Cann to free agency when the new NFL year opens on March 16, so it makes sense new head coach Doug Pederson would want to retain the reliable Shatley, who played in all of the team's 33 games across the past two seasons and made a combined 18 starts over that period.

According to ESPN stats, Lawrence was sacked 32 times and finished his debut campaign 30th among eligible quarterbacks with a 71.9 passer rating and 28th with a 33.5 total QBR.

Also on Monday, the NFL announced that the Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders will open the preseason in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, Aug. 4.
