Jalen Hurts sets QB rushing TD record in NFC Championship win over 49ers

In Sunday's 31-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts made NFL history.

With 43 seconds left in the third quarter on Sunday, Hurts rushed for a one-yard score, his 15th touchdown on the ground of the year, counting playoffs. According to ESPN Stats and Info, that's the most in NFL history, passing former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who posted 14 rushing scores in 2011.

Against arguably one of the most formidable defenses in the NFL, Hurts battled, finishing the night 15-of-25 for 121 yards through the air, adding 39 rushing yards and a touchdown off 11 carries.

Hurts has silenced doubters and led the Eagles to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2017. However, Hurts deflected attention away from himself after the Eagles' huge win.

"I'm not going to make this about me, this is a special city," Hurts said. "They deserve everything that's going on. We've got one more."

At only 24 years and 175 days old, Hurts is the youngest quarterback to lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl in franchise history, overtaking Donovan McNabb, who reached Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005 at 28 years and 73 days old.

Following Sunday's win in the conference title game, Hurts improved his record as a starter this season to a remarkable 16-1. Now, he's only a win away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
