HOUSTON — Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers may have to deal with "The Problem" in the upcoming NFC Championship Game against the Lions —  James Houston IV.

It was a Week-2 injury in Seattle that sidelined former Jackson State's edge rusher James Houston IV for the rest of the season, until today.  The Detroit Lions will have "The Problem" active to play in the 2024 NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Houston is ready, saying to HBCU Legends, "Yes Sir, Big Chance!"

Last weekend, head coach Dan Campbell kept Houston out of the NFC Wild Card game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I'm ready to get out there," Houston told the Detroit Free Press about his chances in that game.

James Houston IV broke his fibula on a special teams play in Seattle. The Lions have been patient and monitored his progress, hoping he'd return in December.

Aidan Hutchinson and James Houston IV are the rising young stars in Detroit. During his rookie season, he recorded 12 tackles, eight sacks, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

The Lions drafted James Houston IV out of Jackson State University as the 217th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

In 2021, he led Jackson State's defense and was named the SWAC Defensive Player of the Year.
