Former Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter found his new NFL home after being selected in the fifth round by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 155 overall pick.

Now that he’s officially been selected, we can look at Trotter’s upcoming payday. As the 155th selection, he’s due a $325,000 signing bonus to kickstart a deal worth $4.34 million, which pays out an average annual value of $1.09 million over the four years, according to Spotrac.

Trotter Jr. played three seasons for the Tigers. He finished his time at Clemson with 192 total tackles, 113 solo tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, four interceptions, 10 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns. He had a career high 15 tackles for loss in 2023.

As a member of the Class of 2021, Trotter Jr. was a five-star recruit out of Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 3 overall prospect in the state, the No. 3 linebacker in the class and the No. 32 overall prospect in the class.

Trotter Jr. was Second-Team All-American in 2022 and named First-Team All-ACC in 2023.

What draft analysts are saying about Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein evaluated Trotter Jr. after watching the tape. The top comparison for Trotter Jr. at this point is Kansas City Chiefs LB Nick Bolton.

“Inside linebacker who plays with dogged determination and a nose for the football that helps him pack out the stat sheet,” Zierlein wrote. “Trotter comes from NFL bloodlines and operates with consistency, play strength and a willingness to do the dirty work. He’s quick to diagnose and moves with exceptional body control and footwork to play around bodies and get to the rock.

“He’s not very big or long, but his football IQ makes it a moot point. He has adequate pursuit speed with good short-area burst and real talent in getting to the quarterback as a blitzer. Trotter can get to the ball with clear eyes and above-average efficiency and has a chance to be a long-time starter in the league.
