Jerry Jones blasts Cowboys after upset loss to Broncos

The Dallas Cowboys got starting quarterback Dak Prescott back for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos after he missed a contest due to a strained right calf, but he couldn't do much of note to prevent Denver from holding a commanding 30-0 lead at one point of the matchup. Denver ultimately won 30-16 to drop Dallas to 6-2 on the season, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn't hold back in criticizing his team's performance during his weekly spot on local radio station 105.3 The Fan. 

Per Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jones called his club "internally overconfident" during the radio segment and added the "Cowboys were not ready" to play Denver.

"That’s as flat as any team I’ve seen," Jones explained. "We basically played what seemed to be lackadaisical." 

Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but it's worth noting that backup signal-caller Cooper Rush did enough to guide the Cowboys to a road win at the Minnesota Vikings the previous Sunday. Prescott, meanwhile, completed 19-of-39 passes for 232 yards with two touchdowns that came in the second half of the fourth quarter and well after the game's result was secured. He was also intercepted once and sacked twice. 

Prescott and company must, simply put, be better in all aspects when they host the Atlanta Falcons this coming Sunday. Atlanta improved to 4-4 with a 27-25 win at the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.
