FIFA has not yet disclosed the venue for the 2026 World Cup Final. However, President Gianni Infantino’s presence at AT&T Stadium on Sunday has sparked discussions and speculation that the NFL venue outside of Dallas might be a candidate to host the championship match.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones invited Infantino to watch the Cowboys take on the New York Jets. It was the first time Infantino attended a Cowboys game. Before kickoff, Jones reportedly asked Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons to meet the FIFA president. More than 82,000 fans attended an FC Barcelona-Real Madrid soccer match at AT&T Stadium in July.
The organizers are considering AT&T Stadium as a potential host for the World Cup Final, with MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles also emerging as top candidates.
“I think we’re trying every way in the world we can to have the final game here,” Jones told the Dallas Morning News. “We’re going to have games here, but want to try every way in the world to get it done.”
The 2026 men’s World Cup will be the first to have 48 teams with 104 matches across U.S., Canada, and Mexico venues. Of the 16 host cities, 11 are in the U.S. FIFA expects $11 billion in revenue from the World Cup.
In May, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and New York City Mayor Eric Adams said they expected MetLife Stadium to host at least eight World Cup games in 2026, which Murphy compared to the Super Bowl.
“That’s eight Super Bowls in six weeks,” Murphy said. “Every single ticket will be sold out; I guarantee it, no matter who’s playing. This is going to be the biggest deal we’ve ever seen in this region.”
