Jerry Jones: 'Things are looking good right now about Dak' Prescott

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told local radio station 105.3 The Fan earlier this week he was optimistic quarterback Dak Prescott could start for Sunday's game at the Minnesota Vikings coming off the strained right calf he initially suffered back on Oct. 17 before Dallas' bye. Head coach Mike McCarthy somewhat lowered expectations later in the week before Prescott felt soreness when he reported to the team facility Friday.

Prescott said Thursday he doesn't expect to know his status for the upcoming matchup until Saturday, but Jones again expressed confidence his QB1 will be in the lineup during a Friday radio appearance.

"I’d like to think Dak can go and will think that. We’ll see how things work at practice, but I’d say things are looking good right now about Dak," Jones explained, according to the Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

Judging by comments made by Prescott and McCarthy, it sounds like backup signal-caller Cooper Rush could start at the Vikings if only so Prescott's injury doesn't worsen with the Cowboys in possession of a three-and-a-half game lead in the NFC East standings. Everyone involved, including Jones, must envision what could be for the team through the second half of the season and into January if Prescott can stay healthy and continue performing at a Most Valuable Player level.
