Jets add former Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah on three-year deal

The New York Jets are set to add tight end C.J. Uzomah on a three-year contract worth $24 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Uzomah, 29, was a fifth-round pick in 2015 and spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2021, he posted career highs in receptions (49), receiving yards (493), and touchdowns (five).

Uzomah also played a key role in the Bengals' run to Super Bowl LVI with 13 receptions and a touchdown in the team's first two postseason wins. While he suffered a knee injury in the AFC Championship, Uzomah still managed to play in the Super Bowl and make two receptions for 11 yards.

Earlier Monday, the Jets agreed to a three-year, $40 million deal with offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson. The pair of additions make it clear that New York's top priority is continuing to add talent around quarterback Zach Wilson.

Wilson, 22, was the second overall pick in 2021 and finished his rookie season with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Ryan Griffin started at tight end for the Jets in 2021 and finished the season with 27 receptions for 261 yards.
