Jets' Garrett Wilson, Aaron Rodgers gush over each other

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson and quarterback Aaron Rodgers have only been teammates officially since late April, but already sound like old friends when speaking about each other.

"It’s pretty good. We’re still building but every day we get better and that’s all we can do," Wilson said Wednesday about his chemistry with Rodgers, as shared by Robert Sanchez of SNY. "With him, it’s so...I mean he makes it easy on me, man. It’s really just do your job and be in a spot and I’m confident he can throw to anyone."

Wilson is the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year and – at just 23 years old – seemingly isn't yet in his physical prime. That, however, hasn't prevented Rodgers from comparing the 2022 first-round draft pick to former teammate and All-Pro receiver Davante Adams on multiple occasions over the past handful of months.

"The talent is really impressive," Rodgers said about Wilson following Wednesday's joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "...I told him I used to have a rule with Davante where I’d give Davante a little extra tick because I know if I did that he’s gonna get open because he was, is, really difficult to cover, and I have to give that to Garrett, too, because sometimes you give him just a little extra tick where you’re sitting on him [and] he’s gonna be really open."

Rodgers is loving life with the Jets this summer and made it known earlier this week he's hyped that Green Green could "be in the mix in February." As of Wednesday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Jets as fourth among betting favorites at +1000 odds to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LVIII.

The Wilson-Rodgers connection is just one reason many are high on the Jets ahead of the upcoming season.

"He sees football how I see it, where I’m open right now he’s going to throw it right now," Wilson added about Rodgers. "It’s honestly rare, but as far as playing pick-up ball and how I grew up playing football that’s how it should be to me. It makes it fun. It’s refreshing."
