Jets HC Robert Saleh not optimistic about Aaron Rodgers injury: 'It's not good'

This was supposed to be the season for the New York Jets. They traded with the Green Bay Packers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a four-time MVP, Super Bowl-winner and no-doubt future NFL Hall of Famer.

Rodgers was supposed to be the missing piece for New York. He was supposed to open the Super Bowl window wide open.

Instead, just four snaps into his career as a Jet, the soon-to-be 40-year-old quarterback had to be carted off the field with an apparent leg injury.

The Jets went on to beat the Buffalo Bills in thrilling fashion thanks to a walk-off punt return touchdown, but after the game, head coach Robert Saleh didn't seem all that optimistic — at least regarding his starting quarterback.

Rodgers had received negative X-ray scans at the stadium that confirmed no broken bones. The problem with those is that they don't show any muscle or ligament issues and if the fear is an Achilles injury, that's something only an MRI can confirm.

The worst-case scenario would be an Achilles tear. If that is the case, Rodgers' season would certainly be finished before it even started. At that point, there would be serious concerns about the state of his career as well

Remember, the aging quarterback had openly flirted with retirement over the past few seasons as a member of the Packers. The trade to the Jets had apparently rejuvenated him, but an Achilles injury could really put his football future in jeopardy.
