Jets HC Robert Saleh: 'Possible' Zach Wilson could start Week 1 vs. Ravens
Could New York Jets backup quarterback Joe Flacco not get his chance at a "revenge game" in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens after all?
Second-year quarterback Zach Wilson underwent knee surgery in mid-August, and it was reported at the time that Flacco was " in line" to start the season-opener. Wilson was selected by the Jets with the No. 2 overall pick in 2021.
In early August, prior to Wilson's surgery, head coach Robert Saleh turned some heads when he said that he believed the 37-year-old Flacco was still " a starting quarterback in this league."
Wilson missed four games during the 2021 campaign due to a knee injury, giving way to a rotating group of signal-callers, including Flacco, Mike White and Josh Johnson. In two games (one start) last year, Flacco went 27-for-42 for 338 passing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
